The Bodog Poker Open Kicks Off On March 3

Bodog Poker is hosting the inaugural Bodog Poker Open from March 3. The BPO will comprise of five preliminary events which lead up to the Main Event on March 9. The $500 buy in event means that online poker lovers can compete for serious money - and the winner can walk away with a cash prize and an engraved Omega Speedmaster watch, valued at $4,400.

Here’s what Bodog North American CEO Alwyn Morris, had to say:

“We’re excited to finally give our online poker players a tournament series where they can battle it out for some major bragging rights and serious money. While there will be more Bodog Poker Opens, there will only be one ‘first’ Bodog Poker Champion, and he or she will have the cash and champion’s Omega Speedmaster watch to show for it.”

So far so good, but he forgot to mention that to make things even more exciting, Bodog Poker will be adding a total of $75,000 extra cash to the BPO’s prize pools, creating a larger prize pool to each tournament and giving players an exceptional value for their buy-ins.

So to the nitty gritty. What’s on offer play wise? Each of the BPO’s preliminary events will feature a different buy-in amount and format of Texas Holdem, including No Limit, Pot Limit, Limit and Six-Handed No Limit. Meaning that players can buy directly into any of the events with cash or Bodog Tournament Credits or win their way in through any number of low-cost satellites which started on Monday. Prelim winners gain entry to the BPO Main Event.

March 3 - Event No. 1 - No Limit - $250 + 20 buy-in - $10k added

March 4 - Event No. 2 - No Limit 6-Handed - $300 + 25 buy-in - $10k added

March 5 - Event No. 3 - Rebuy - $100 + 10 buy-in -$10k added

March 6 - Event No. 4 - Pot Limit - $200 + 15 buy-in - $10k added

March 7 - Event No. 5 - Limit - $150 + 10 buy-in -$10k added

March 8 - N/A - Satellite Day - Various N/A added

March 9 - Event No. 6 - Main Event (NL) $470 + 30 buy-in -$25k added
