Prahlad Friedman goes on $50,000 heater

One of poker’s most controversial figures, Prahlad Friedman, was winning pots left and right yesterday as Spirit Rock on UltimateBet.

Friedman is perhaps best known for going deep in the 2006 Main Event before eventually falling out of contention in 20th place. Friedman faced considerably criticism from the poker community when he accused established pro Jeffrey Lisandro of not paying a $5,000 ante in the tournament.

Despite the criticism Friedman has accumulated life-time poker earnings of over $1.2 million and he was adding to that number last night.

Most of Friedman’s profits came from online player DASHARKMAN11. The majority of the action was heads-up spread out over $25/$50 No-Limit virtual tables Gastonia, Labrador Dr and Guadeloupe Hwy on UltimateBet.

The biggest hand of the night came when Friedman was dealt K T while DASHARKMAN11 looked down to find A Q. DASHARKMAN11 popped it up to $150 pre-flop and Friedman raised to $800. The flop came a juicy Q 3 2 which gave Friedman a flush drawn and DASHARKMAN11 top-pair top-kicker.

Friedman checked but DASHARKMAN11 bet $800. Friedman made the huge overshove putting all of his $21,081 into the pot. DASHARKMAN11 only had $11,543 on the table and decided to call for all of it.

Much to DASHARKMAN11′s dismay the turn came K giving Friedman top-pair and the lead. The river was a meaningless 5 and Friedman got the checkmark and the $26,286 pot.
