Full Tilt Online Poker Series XII Begins Today
May 2, 2009
Can’t wait until the World Series of Poker? Need your big tournament action now? Full Tilt Poker is happy to oblige.
The popular Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS) kicks off today, highlighted by 12 events that are guaranteed to have a minimum prize pool of $500,000. In all, the tournament series will feature 25 events.
The first event, hosted by Erick Lindgren, starts today at 9 p.m. ET. The six-handed no-limit hold’em tournament, with a buy-in of $216, will feature a $1 million-guaranteed prize pool.
The main event will take place May 17 at 6 p.m. ET — a $535 buy-in tournament with a guaranteed prize pool of at least $2.5 million. While that tournament will likely attract the attention of the masses, the $2,620 two-day event that starts on May 16 features the series’ biggest buy-in.
The majority of the 25 events will be strictly hold’em, although those events are varied in that they differentiate themselves in their formats. There are standard multi-table tournaments, but there are also tourneys that feature six-handed play, shootouts, rebuys, knockout formats, turbos, and even a tournament with a blinds structure that includes antes from the opening hand.
FTOPS XII will also feature tournaments in Omaha, Omaha eight-or-better, razz, stud eight-or-better, and HA (half hold’em, half Omaha), as well as a H.E.R.O.S. tournament on May 12.
Full Tilt will also be simultaneously running a series for smaller-stakes players, aptly named the MiniFTOPS.
MiniFTOPS XII will feature all of the same events as FTOPS XII, but with one-tenth of the original buy-in. That series will be highlighted by its two-day event with a $266 buy-in that starts on May 16 and its $55 main event on May 17, which boasts a $500,000-guaranteed prize pool.
