Mansion Poker Has YOUR Game
December 26, 2008
At Mansion Poker, players are the number one priority, which is why Mansion Poker offers a
full range of game types – for every level of player. And, you won’t have to fit poker into your schedule, because all games are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 365 days a year!
Have you been struggling at 7 Card Stud? Are your Hold’em hands horrible? Thinking of switching games? Have you seen an interesting game but you are not sure how to play? Then Mansion Poker can show you! Just go to the help section located right in the Mansion Poker lobby or in the game window, and select the option for Rules. There you will find everything you need to know to play all the games on Mansion Poker. Then, to view all current games offered, just log-in to your account at Mansion Poker to see what tables are available. Don’t have a Mansion Poker account yet? Then Download Mansion Poker and use bonus code: POKERWORKS for your 100% deposit bonus, up to $500!
Then get set to play because Mansion Poker also offers a variety of games and tournament types to maximize your gaming enjoyment! If you like tournaments, you can select to play in a Freezeout tournament where each player starts with the same amount of chips and battles it out until only one player is left standing. When a player loses all of his or her chips, that player is automatically eliminated from the tournament.
Another fun and popular tournament is the rebuy format. Although this type of tournament is very similar to a Freezeout tournament, there is an added feature: Players may lose all of their chips but still be able to purchase additional chips at the same cost of their original buy-in. You can take chances and gamble but then rebuy and stay alive in the tournament! In addition, with Mansion Pokers rebuy tournaments, an add-on option is offered after the rebuy period is over. This is open to all remaining players in the tournament and allows players to purchase additional chips at the value of the original buy-in. This can be truly handy if you are on the razor’s edge of your chip stack! And, if a player loses all their chips on the final hand prior to the beginning of the add-on option, they can still purchase a rebuy and an add-on both at the same time! After the rebuys are over, the tournament continues in the same fashion as a freezeout until one player wins all the chips.
For those players who like their action fast, play the Turbo tournament format, where blind levels increase at a lightening fast rate! Players will still all have the same amount of time for taking action; however, the rapid blind speed has a real effect on strategy. Mansion Poker’s Turbo tournaments are offered as both freezeout and rebuy tournaments, but remember, in a turbo rebuy tournament, the rebuy period will be shorter!
So many games, so many choices and so little time….so visit Mansion Poker today and start getting in on all the action!

2009 Set to Begin With Tourneys From Bahamas to Russia
December 26, 2008
It is the time of year when tournaments around the world come to a virtual standstill. With
the completion of the WPT Doyle Brunson Five Diamond World Poker Classic at Bellagio in Las Vegas, the tournament circuit has wrapped (pun intended) up for the year. But after all of the family gatherings and holiday trips run their courses over coming days and weeks, the focus will again be on the poker tournaments of the world.
The poker tournament circuit has grown by leaps and bounds in past year, and 2009 looks to be no different. And with new recent additions like the Asian Poker Tour, Asia Pacific Poker Tour, Latin American Poker Tour, and soon-to-kick-off Russian Poker Tour, there will be no shortage of events to choose from as players plan their schedules for the start of the new year.
The first series of events doesn’t leave for much recovery time from New Year’s celebrations. The PokerStars Caribbean Adventure begins on January 5 and runs through the 10th with numerous tournaments and activities. While the $10,000 buy-in main event is the main attraction, other events are playing out like the final table of the PokerStars World Cup of Poker, the $25,000 buy-in High Rollers tournament, and the Battleship tournament. (Yes, that Battleship game from your childhood!) There will also be a PokerStars poker camp during the week, and altogether it is being dubbed the Festival of Poker. What better way to ring in the new year than at the Atlantis Resort & Casino in the Bahamas?
The next stop on the 2009 tournament circuit is the World Poker Tour Gulf Coast Poker Championship at the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. The standard $10,000 buy-in will be in place, and the tournament will run from January 14th to 17th. Players looking to follow in the footsteps of six and a half seasons of WPT champions will be there in force.
Throughout the month of January, the Aussie Millions series of tournaments will be ongoing at the Crown Casino in Melbourne, Australia. It culminates in the $10,500 main event that will run from January 18th through the 24th with a guaranteed $2 million first prize. Also included in the festivities will be the World’s Largest Cash Game with a $1 million buy-in, sure to attract some of the world’s most well-known high rollers.
For those in Europe and who can’t make the long trek to Australia, the European Poker Tour will be in full swing from January 20th to the 24th with its reinstated Deauville, France stop. Back by popular demand, the €5,000 buy-in tournament will take place at the Barriere Casino with a cap of 700 players. If the recent EPT events are any indication, the tour will have no problem filling those seats.
Also on January 20th, players from all over Latin and South America will be traveling to Vina del Mar, Chile for the Latin American Poker Tour’s first stop there. With a $2,500 buy-in and the ever-growing popularity of poker in the region, the three-day tournament is likely to draw a sizable crowd. In addition to the Vina del Mar tournament, the final table of the LAPT’s Mexico stop will also take place there. After the Nuevo Vallarta tournament was abruptly shut down by government officials, the powers-that-be decided to play out the tournament online and fly the final tablists to Chile to play for the win in front of the LAPT cameras.
As if January wasn’t already full enough, an entirely new tour has been added to the scene, courtesy of PokerStars. The Russian Poker Tour will launch in St. Petersburg on January 25th and run through February 1st. The $5,000 buy-in main event is sure to attract new faces as the first major tour to hit Russian soil, and with so many new stellar players coming from the region, it is sure to attract them to the RPT to capture its first title.
Lastly, the Asian Poker Tour will hit the Philippines on January 27th and wrap on February 1st at the Dusit Thani Manila Hotel in Makati. The $2,500 buy-in main event is estimated to garner a $1 million prize pool, and with the success of other tours to travel to the Philippine islands, players will surely turn out in droves for the APT.
Once the holidays are over, the tournament circuit will obviously be in full swing quickly, and new champions will be crowned the world over. Best of luck in 2009 to everyone!

WPT Premieres on Fox Sports Net January 4
December 25, 2008
In July of 2008, WPT Enterprises announced that it signed a broadcast deal with Fox Sports Network to air its seventh season of World Poker Tour shows. The press release came just as the first tournament of Season 7 was in the final table stage and being filmed. After
nearly six months of anticipation, the announcement was finally made that the episodes will begin on a television schedule that begins on January 4, 2009.
The World Poker Tour is set to be part of FSN’s Sunday Night Sports Block, which includes Major League Baseball, National Hockey League, and National Basketball Association games and related programming. A total of 26 episodes will air beginning on Sunday, January 4th, and continue through the winter and spring television season. All WPT shows will be part of the Season 7 tournament schedule.
The format for the FSN season will take after that which aired last year on GSN as a one-hour, two-part format that allows more hands to be shown, more analysis from hosts Mike Sexton and Vince Van Patten, and more sideline interviews from new WPT Live Updates Hostess Amanda Leatherman. All shows are sponsored by FullTiltPoker.net, as well as Southwest Airlines as the WPT’s official airline.
WPT Founder, President, and CEO Steve Lipscomb noted, “Not only are we excited to bring our seventh season to the airwaves, we’re ecstatic to be a part of one of the leading networks for sports, FSN. Together, WPT and FSN continue to bring the action into living rooms and put fans on the edge of their seats.”
George Greenberg, FSN Executive Vice President of Programming and Production, added, “FSN is pleased to be the new home of the WPT, the foremost brand in televised poker. This season promises the biggest names, the highest stakes and the most drama and we are very excited to watch all the action unfold.”
The World Poker Tour episodes will not be the first WPT Enterprises production to hit the FSN airwaves, as ClubWPT.com has been airing for several months. The ClubWPT.com episodes that have aired thus far will be aired as a TV marathon on Christmas Day for those who may have missed it.
In addition WPT Enterprises announced that it will launch a channel finder on its World Poker Tour website to allow followers of the show access to a television guide as to when each of the two FSN shows can be seen on varying channels and at different times.

Guinness World Record Breaker Tournament
December 24, 2008
Gather round all you little record breakers, get in on the biggest tournament EVER, until the
next one of course. PokerStars is going to outdo last year’s tournament that had the same goal and found 20,000 players firing up their chips and trying to win part of the prize pool. ‘Lynna1’ took home the big bucks of $20,000 for capturing first place.
There’s a cap on this tournament, only 35,000 players allowed, and as of this writing, there are 12,000 registered. The price of being part of online poker history and Guinness’ Book of World Records is $10+1 and there are a variety of satellites being held to win a seat in it, some are frequent player points, others are cash satellites like $1+$.10 and $2+$.20. But here’s some great news, if you download PokerStars and enter “pokerworks” when registering, you receive an exclusive PokerWorks bonus of $25 free in addition to a 100 percent matching bonus up to $50. Be sure to enter the marketing code of POKERWORKS upon registration and the bonus code of FIRST2008 upon your first deposit. That’s like a free entry into the Record Breaker.
If the maximum player registration is met, there will be 3,500 tables in action (just for this tournament – it’s anyone guess as to how many will actually be playing on the site), and the blind levels run 10 minutes before moving up. Expect a lot of chip movement fast but someone is going to win it, and you could be the title holder of the Record Breaker.
You can find the tournament at PokerStars under “Tournaments” – “Special” tab. It starts at 15:30 ET on December 28th, Sunday, 2008.
Guinness’ offices in London will handle verification of the official record and it usually takes about six weeks. Once that’s accomplished, it’s really officially official.
Of course you are wondering what the prize pool will be like, right? Let’s see – $350,000? That sounds about right, but it isn’t. The Record Breaker is guaranteed at $500,000. That sounds even better! Don’t even consider missing the Record Breaker – four days from now you'll want to be in a seat.

Private Arizona Poker Club Folds
December 23, 2008
A private Tucson, Arizona poker club whose opening served as a challenge to that state’s gambling regulations has agreed to close in the face of legal pressure. Club Royale, opened by former judge Harold Lee and Donna and Johnny Ray Rogers, agreed to shutter its doors to resolve a civil suit brought by Arizona’s Pascua Yaqui nation. The Pasqui Yaqui operate two of the four state compact-regulated casinos in the Tucson area.
The battle featured the viewpoints of the outspoken and maverick Lee against the state and the tribes, who insisted that they had the exclusive legal right to spread poker in Arizona, which in total offers 22 casinos run by 15 different tribal nations. Among the poker wrinkles at Lee’s club was its spreading of no-limit hold’em, forbidden under the 1993 Arizona Tribal-State Gaming Compact, which governs the tribal casinos.
The Club Royale battle also developed into a rift between the Rogers, who retained their own representation in the matter, and Lee, who vowed to continue his fight to offer poker in Arizona. By closing the club, which ran under the auspices of the International Card and Game Players Association (ICGPA), a group founded by Lee, the Rogers will not have to pay any damages to the Pascua Yaqui nation. Lee accused the Rogers of misusing ICGPA funds while operating one of two private poker clubs that opened in Tucson last year. (The other club closed for separate reasons.) Lee also vowed to reopen the club at a new Tucson location.
The Round Table – JC Alvarado – Q & A’s with Your Favorite Pros
December 23, 2008
He’s won millions playing online as PrtyPkrSUX and JC Alvarado
Name: Juan Carlos Alvarado
Nickname: JC
Date of birth: 05/06/85
Place of birth: Mexico City
Currently residing: Vegas, but soon to be back on a beach in Mexico
Favorite song to listen to before tournament that gets you pumped up: Recently by Enae Volare Mezzo
Craziest prop bet: I don't really prop bet, I'm too much of a sucker.
Favorite places to travel: I love most places in Europe.
What do you like to do in your spare time: Watch TV, movies, read, play Xbox…pretty much anything that will keep me lying on my couch.
Any celebrity crushes: Mandy Moore and Natalie Portman
If you weren't playing poker what career would you have: Something having to do with movie making…I wanted to be a writer and I'd love to direct.
What is something no one knows about you: Not sure, but whatever it is I probably would not want to say.
Favorite movie: Ugh, I hate this question there's too many of them. I guess if I had to say what my favorite movie to watch is; it would probably be a tossup between Karate Kid and Enter the Dragon. If I had to say what I think is the best movie I've ever seen, I'd say Shawshank? Maybe Seven Samurai? Not sure…
Hobbies: I started training Jujitsu this year and I loved it, but then I stopped and I'm planning to start again in January. I started doing yoga, but I suck.
Describe yourself in three words: calm, nice and happy
What are you most proud of in your life: I've been really fortunate in my life but I haven't really done anything that I'm actually proud of so far. I saved someone from getting run over by a 16 wheeler one time; I guess I'm proud of that.
What is your favorite smell: Bacon
Favorite taste: Mango
Favorite sound: Ocean
Biggest impulse purchase: My car
What is a day in your life like outside of playing poker: It depends on what’s going on, like if there’s a tourney in town, if I'm at home or not etc…Typically I wake up around 10 am or so, meditate for like 30 minutes, do some "yoga", go to the gym….I shower and then cook some breakfast, I watch a little TV and then start my session. Later on I usually get convinced to go eat somewhere in Vegas and then end up playing fifa or watching TV with my friends until 2 am or so. Pretty boring, but I enjoy that type of life.
How many tournaments do you play a year: Not many, I usually play the west coast stuff, the series , and occasionally travel out of the US. I don't know the exact number of tournaments but it isn't close to what the tourney pros play.
What is the most over used phrase in poker: "So Sick"….I gotta stop saying that
How do you celebrate when you make a big score: I usually go out to dinner with my friends, I drink a bit and go to bed. I'll also buy myself something I really want but have been too cheap to get.
What is the most important thing someone has ever told you or taught you about poker: "Don't tilt" ….I still haven't been able to do that though.
What are you up to now: Right now I'm by myself in Acapulco, in an apartment on a mountain right by the beach….I'm playing about 8 or 10 hours a day out on a balcony overlooking the bay, it's amazing. I'm not treating it as a vacation, exactly the opposite, I came here to re-focus and start grinding, it's been a very enjoyable experience (except for the fact that I get disconnected too much.)
Biggest poker goal: To somehow win enough money so that I don't have to play.
Like a wheel, the Round Table is a circle of adventures and victories, beats and stories, and life as it unfolds with a cast of characters that may, or may not, have joined you in your home on a local TV program. There's so much more to poker than what you see on TV. Although I won't use canvas, I will paint the full picture for you as I follow the lives of some of your favorite (and some unknown) players. The Round Table is an ongoing series of life, viewed full circle.

December 23, 2008
One of the great things about online poker is that it runs 24 hours a day, 7 days a week,
and it doesn’t close for the holidays. And when a site like Full Tilt Poker has games at every level and tournaments with a variety of buy-ins running whenever you want them, that can give a certain amount of peace during the hectic holidays. Whether you’re unable to travel or simply need a break from the family, Full Tilt Poker is waiting to provide that getaway.
And Full Tilt is offering some holiday incentives, doling out a few extra gifts in the form of cold hard cash as 2008 winds down and heads into 2009.
The big promotion is the 3Xmas Happy Hour. During normal Full Tilt Happy Hour tournaments and games, players can earn double Full Tilt Points, which can then be used in the Full Tilt store for anything from clothing to laptops, electronics, and plasma televisions. But from December 21st through January 1st, the 3Xmas Happy Hour times will earn triple points for three times longer than usual!
Extended Happy Hour days will be December 24th, 25th, 26th, 31st, and January 1st, and three times the normal points accrued through games and tournaments will be added to your points tally. Simply look for the smiley faces in the “players” column in the Full Tilt Poker lobby, and play those particular tables to earn those extra points.
Keep in mind that those points are also good for some special tournaments, like the Holiday $100K. Oh, we didn’t mention that?
For 2,000 points, players can earn an entry into the Holiday $100K tournaments. The first one will run at 15:15 ET on December 27th, and due to popular demand, another has been added to run at the same time on December 28th. Each tournament will offer $100,000 in cash prizes, and there is truly no better time of the year to gather a few extra thousand dollars for that bank account or poker bankroll!
And for those who haven’t yet accumulated 2,000 Full Tilt Points, there are satellites running now for as little as 50 points. In addition, there are daily freerolls that start at 40 minutes past every hour through December 27th with seats to the Holiday $100K tournaments up for grabs.
How can you get in on these great holiday opportunities? First, download Full Tilt Poker and set up an account. Then go to the lobby where you’ll find the “tournaments” tab. The Holiday $100K events are listed there.
And don’t forget to use a bonus code, specifically “POKERWORKS,” upon making your first deposit to Full Tilt Poker to earn a 100% bonus on any dollar amount up to $600.
What better way to enjoy–or escape–the holidays than to log on to the ultra-popular Full Tilt Poker and join tens of thousands of others in a little game of poker?
