Remember that opponent selection is everything when playing heads-up. If your sole opponent is as good or better than you, or even slightly worse, then you will lose money in the long run. Grant Levy became the first Australian to win a million-dollar prize on his home soil, taking down the PokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final and its winner’s share of AU $1,000,000.

In a marathon heads-up match that capped an exciting final table, Australian native Grant Levy took down the first-everPokerStars.net Asia Pacific Poker Tour Grand Final at Sydney’s Star City Hotel and Casino, keeping the trophy home in Sydney for the next year. Grant Levy’s win capped off a great fall, following his third-place finish in the PokerNews Cup Main Event this November.

River Bluffs in Limit Hold’em

I have a rule on the river that I follow religiously which I appropriately call “The River Rule” - Never try to make a good laydown on the river in Limit Hold’em.

Given the river rule, it isn’t easy to get opponents to fold on the river given the size of the pot; however, there are situations here and there which arise which will give you an opportunity to try and steal the pot. The most common example is when you are on a draw and you continue to bet the river hoping that your opponent will fold a busted draw or weak pair. Read more

The $500 buy in event means that online poker lovers can compete for serious money - and the winner can walk away with a cash prize and an engraved Omega Speedmaster watch, valued at $4,400.

1,000+ poker players were basking in the Carribean sun and sand to take part in the 2008 PokerStars Carribean Adventure.  After countless satellites and on-line qualifiers at PokerStars, it was all down to five days of heart-stopping No-Limit Texas Hold’em poker action  for the 2008 PokerStars Carribean Adventure.

In the end, it was Bertrand “ElkY” Grospellier, a member of Team PokerStars, who became the tournament champion of the 2008 PokerStars  Carribean Adventure.
